A name to be loved just the way it is..

    There was a boy in Korea named Kim Jong Hee. Because of his name, he was being bullied in his childhood days. They called him “Jong-I! Jong-I!” which means paper, for his name sounded very similar to that word. Because of these experiences, he never wanted his own children to face the same kind of burden. So he decided to give names that are common and beautiful, not just by its sound but also with its meaning. He does not want to give names would cause a burden for the rest of their lives.

    That boy, Kim Jong Hee, is my father and the name given to me is Kim So Hyun.

    So Hyun is one of the common names in Korea but it has a beautiful meaning. The meanings of each word of a name are being based from the Chinese definition. “So” and “Hyun”, each of them are defined to be bright. Combining the two together would mean very bright.

    Another reason why this name was given, it is because he wanted his baby girl to live a life of brightness and to seek the brightness of the Lord forever.

    Just because this name is considered beautiful and common in Korea, it doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be unique and weird in other countries.

    Living here in the Philippines, I have been teased by my classmates, they would be calling me “soy sauce” and “soy”, but most of all they tease me because it sounded a lot like the Tagalog phrase “so yun!”. Up to now it’s still happening.

    But just because they tease my name because it sounded weird to them, doesn’t mean that I hate it, I love my name and am proud of it just the way it is. Thank you father!  

Memorable Film

    From today's activity on the subject "Creative Writing", we were told to choose between three categories which are Film, TV Shows and Books. Out of the three, we should specify one with 3 reasons, why it is considered likable.

    From those three given choices, the one that caught my attention and up to now would be my utmost favorite would be the film - Animated Film, of Hayao Miyazaki "Spirited Away" from the Studio Ghibli.

    The first reason why I love this film would be because just by watching this animation, you could see the creative mind of the artist, of how he could bring life from just simple things, or how he could bring up something new by combining one from another. It truly was an amazing film.

    This film does not only bring entertainment, it even brings out valuable lessons of trust, courage and love. Which that I consider as a second reason. That whoever would watch this, either a child or an adult, maybe even the elderly, they would enjoy it from the very beginning of the film till the last minute.

   There was a time where a friend of mine showed this movie to her little sister, around 5 or 6. While watching  it, there was a scene in which the female protagonist needs to hold her breath while crossing the bridge so that the monsters couldn't identify her, while that was happening my friend noticed her own little sister was doing the same thing too. This brought laughter out of me and it really made me realize this film is truly to be enjoyed no matter how old or young you are. 

    Finally the last but not the least reason of why I consider this film likable would be because of the art. Since this is an animation it would be harder than a realistic movie itself. The film was drawn so beautifully that my eyes can't get off every details of each scene. The colors blended gracefully that it wouldn't hurt my eyes at all.

    Spirited Away was even dubbed in English version by Walt Disney Pictures, under the supervision of Pixar's John Lasseter and it has won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film at the 75th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. 

A Dream wishing to come True

Living a life under the hands of their parents is basically normal..
Following their rules and regulations, living up to their expectations..
But If they are blocking the road to your dreams, to what you really want to take in life, would you still follow them? Or would you take to risk to go against them?

Our parents know what's the best for us, since they have lived longer in this planet.
But thinking to the fact of following what to do with your life in something you don't really consider to be passionate about is something to think about..

But maybe there must be a reason why I have been placed in this position, which is somehow difficult for me to stand.

There is this phrase "Everything happens for a reason", which I believe in, so definitely there must be a good purpose for all of this for my future.

Life truly is short and tough, but with God it's not that complicated. Life in this earth is just temporary and it is adventurous if we look in a different point of view..

So the solution to all this I guess is to stay positive, for sure there must be a reason why I have this talent (but not able to use it as my lifetime job for a while), Why I have been placed in this position, and so much more..
